Our Pastor
Rev. Dr. Sandra L. Steiner Ball
Sandra grew up in Milford, Delaware, the oldest daughter of a small businessman and a schoolteacher. She attended the public school system in Milford, graduating in 1980. She has been active in The United Methodist Church all her life.
Sandra attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and graduated cum laude with honors in religion. In 1984 she entered Duke Divinity School and began the process for entering into ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church.
In 1987 she graduated with her Masters of Divinity, was married to the Rev. Barry D. Ball and together they took their first appointments in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference.
Ordained a Deacon in 1986 and an elder in 1989, Sandra has served as the first full time associate pastor of Kent Island UMC, Chester, MD., senior pastor of Luke's UMC in St. Michaels MD, the Dover District Superintendent serving as dean of the cabinet for four years, and along with serving Bayside Chapel is the Director of Connectional Ministries in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference. Along the way, Sandra also served as the Conference Coordinator of Youth Ministry, the cabinet representative to the Board of Ordained Ministry, and served as a member of and had leadership positions in various District and Conference Teams, Boards, and Agencies. She currently serves as a member of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and will lead the Peninsula-Delaware General Conference delegation in 2012.
In May 2003, she received her Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Seminary. Her track of study was, "Spirituality and Transforming Community."
Sandra and Barry have two daughters, Sarah and Sandra Rebekah (Becky) Ball. Sarah graduated from High Point University, in May 2011 and received a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in computer science. Sarah is currently taking part in a yearlong missionary program with a Christian Missionary organization, Adventures in Mission. Becky graduated from Milford Sr. High School in May 2011, is a dancer, and will attend High Point University in the Fall of 2011. She intends to continue her dance and to become a teacher.
